Step one - Research area/focus

area of interest - skateboard deck art

extending on my project from photo methods IA using liquid emulsion and darkroom techniques to apply images to skateboard decks. Although this was a successful investigation, there is alot of room for it to be improved. In order to achieve this i want to strip it right back to the building stages of the skate deck when the wood is in paper thin veneers - then applying the emulsion in a simular process to that of paper being coated, creating a perfect, brush stroke free coat.

TECHNOLOGY:
- The use of liquid emulsion as a media for skateboard deck art.
- Need to research the different liquid emulsions + hardners + gelatin sizing etc.
- book to get out - 'silver gelatin'

SUBJECT:
- Signature models?..

- Art? - Portrature, including paint with liquid emulsions? multimedia, sketches - then contact printing with acetate negatives? Spanning across multiple decks? eg below from artist james jean.. titled 'eden'

- Illusions? - making the board look damaged/broken/snapped through the use of photo realistic printing. Cracked and sellotaped back together, being real tacky. gunshots, flesh wounds, holes, stitched back together etc..

Consider existing practices that fall short - there is no other process similar to this in any way in the current practice.
